I am trying to put together a good 80s costume for halloween. I bought a dress at goodwill for my costume, but I am not sure if it’s really 80s. I will describe it:
Strapless, floral pattern, knee length straight bottom, all around the waist is a big ruffle that is about half the length of the skirt and a approx 4 inch rose made out of the fabric of the dress.
Does that sound like what someone would wear in the 80s?
Any good suggestions to put with the outfit? Thanks

so im going as pat benatar for halloween. i got a good leather snakeskin skirt, but what should i do for the top and accessories? pictures would be helpful

Shirt: AC/DC T shirt :]

Pants: Neon footless tights with jean skirt

Shoes:i really don’t know…HELP! I’m not sure what shoes to wear cuz I’m only 12

Accessories: Big cheep plastic earrings, Giant plastic cross necklace, jelly bracelets, plastic neon bangles, headband with GIANT bow.

Makeup: Bright sparkley blue eye shadow, hot pink shiny lip stick, bright red blush, fake lashes and some eye liner. Too much for a 12 year old? Its for my cousins 30th b-day.

Any other ideas. The Party is in june so i have time.

I am trying to make my own Halloween costume this year based after different eras (1920s, 60s, etc.). I have a very pretty polka dot skirt that I think might work, but I’m not sure which era polka dots were popular in. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions? Thanks

i’m going to an 80s party and i’m not sure if my costume is 80s.

here is what i’ve got:
red singlet, black netting kind of long sleeve top, red tights with black fishnets over top, short trashy looking denim skirt and some big red sunglasses, long cross necklace. and of course big crimped hair in a side ponytail.

so i’m sort of leaning towards a trashy madonna/cindy lauper look. what do you think? any other suggestions?

I adore Halloween but I have to wonder can you be over the top when dressing up? Or would it just be better to play it safe? I’m just curious because I have an up coming costume party and now I’m second guessing myself. But do I wear my hair in a straight or curled a little pony? and it goes in the back not on top of my head right? Would a polka dot ribbon look okay in myhair?

Ok, so a friend of a friend is having a Fabulous 40s birthday party, and everyone is dressing up. I had a fairly cool costume planned, with a fedora, a black and white tweed patterned skirt and a nice white button-up shirt, etc., but someone just told me it’s more 20s than 40s. I was imagining something a bit gangster-ish.

So does this sound 20s or 40s?
