I’m ALL about vintage and i love anything retro or 50s like 50s pinup girls and sundresses and ROCKABILLY music i don’t want to be to fancy or anything but i really want to show peaple my style on the first day beacuse its really me and i dont want to be stared at or anything like that. but i dont care to much about what people think but its pretty rare that anyone is going to be wearing any of this to school except for like a costume party. its like those dresses that you wear the saddle shoes, and the dress with the petticoat and the poodle, AND the scarf but without all of that more or less rockabilly with a classy vintage twist. well my hair is a dirty blond with pink bangs and purple tips and its in a 50s pinup victory rolls NOT a finger wave! and they r called swing dresses and i have one with white polka dots and a red petticoat and its a 50s swing retro housewife dress but i woodnt b wearing saddle shoes i wood b wearing red wedges with black polka dots beacuse the petticoat is red
okayy thanks to all of u who answered with my style in mind. lemme break it down for u its a 50s swing dress its not a poodle skirt or anything no scarf no saddle shoes no red lipstick and no bowling club its just a 50s swing dress red petticoat and some wedges with victory rolls and no im not new im in the 8th grade goin to highschool soon and i do have lots of friends not trying to boast but everyone likes me frm my middle school im not a mean girl in fact ive been told i was the kindest hearted girl but i laugh at mean people beacuse its sooo funny it really doesnt bother me altho i kno there r some demons in highschool well if i where the dress without the petticoat and some flats and regular hair wood that b okay?? b/c i dnt wanna stick out like a sore thumb cuz i understand that mite b a bit much but thats my style and im the boldest person i know. i cood bring out the wedges later and the hair and mix it up a bit…totally understand yea ima go with not overdoing it thnkx : D

I’m a freshman this year, and I’m going to be in a pageant at my high school.
The theme of the pageant is "Rock The Night Away" and for the opening number, all of the girls have to wear poodle skirts.

for my talent, I’m going to sing, but, I’m having a problem on finding a song.
I figured I would do a song that kind of goes with the theme of the pageant, but, I have no clue what would really go with that.
I was thinking something from a musical, but I’m not really sure.

So, does anyone know what a good song would be to sing for the talent portion of the pageant?
and, could you kind of suggest an outfit to wear while singing?
to fit the song.

btw, the talent portion can only be 90 seconds (1:30) long.
so, I either need a really short song, or, a song that would be good to cut.

For my treble choir performance we are doing a 50s theme… it seems like EVERY is going to be wearing a poodle skirt, but I want to be unique… any ideas? It has to be semi-formal. (ex. we’re not allowed to wear flip flops or tennis shoes… high heels only.)

1) i have a black poodle skirt, white blouse, and white button sweater tied overtop. my penny loafers are black. i only have a pink hairbow i’m gonna wear on my ponytail, how can i add more splashes of more pink? haloween dressup day is tomorrow for us…

2) would two pigtails also be okay? i know ‘the look’ in the 50s was a pony, but i want pigtails. is this appropriate?

3) any more suggestions (cheap, fast) to improve the costume?

Okay I’m being a 50s girl for halloween and I have an outfit from walmart that is a black polka dotted skirt and a red jacket/sweater with a poodle on it. But do I wear my hair in a straight or curled a little pony? and it goes in the back not on top of my head right? Would a polka dot ribbon look okay in myhair?

I have no idea whether I should be a leg warmer wearing, neon leggings 80s girl, or a poodle skirt, saddle shoe 50s girl. What do you think? Also, what should I wear for either costume?

This week we are having "Spirit Wee" Tommorow is "Decade Day" wear you dress up as if you were from the 20s,30s,40s,50s,60s,… (you know what I mean?) and I want to dress up like I am from the 50’s ..

My mom use to have this ‘poodle-skirt’ costume in her closet.. but it turns out that (i think) last week, she gave it to the Good-Will. I did not think I needed it this week for Thursday (tomorrow (duh!!!) )

Here is what I was thinking for tomorrow that I maybe could wear…
***A poodle skirt costume (maybe I could go to the super Wal-mart today and (by luck [if i have any] go find one (which would probably be my Halloween costume for a party too)
***My black (with white bows on the tip of them) flats.
***Curl my hair and put them in pick-tails…(low picktales)

My school is having a decades week and you get extra credit if you dress up for the decade in relation to that day. For the 50s i already have my outfit (a poodle skirt) from a halloween costume years ago. Now, i need some tips on how to dress for the remaining decades. I’m going to the thrift store, but keep in mind, the store im going to isn’t vintage, so i wont be finding platform shoes or obnoxious bell bottoms. I dont really know what to wear for 60s and 70s. I associate 60s with earthy-hippy and 70s with disco, but what can i wear that can be found in a thrift store?! For 80s, i think i’m going to cut an off the shoulder sweater and wear a bright colored tank top underneath, but what kind of bottom? And for 90s, a few of us are dressing as the spice girls, and i’m baby spice, so i guess i need to find some short little dress? I would appreciate any input or pictures from these eras. Thanks!
